Military Computers in Service Today

There are many types of Military Computers in use today. In fact, in many ways the military use of computers is the catalyst for many innovations and manufacturing features and benefits that we see touted in the consumer market at the end of the day. Military Computers are where many of the initial ideas for durable mobile computers are first tested and then improved upon.

Some of these innovations can be quite obvious like wireless connectivity and new communications technology, but then there is also breakthrough technology that has been developed for very specific needs like sunlight readable displays and night vision display technology. Most of the innovations eventually get transitioned to the commercial rugged notebook and rugged laptop marketplace, and then transition to consumer brands as the technology becomes more accessible and affordable due to economies of scale.

Wherever and whenever there is a need to combat the increased risk of damage due to the rigors of knocks, bumps, drops, shock and vibration, you can almost certainly expect that military style computers have been there first.

Mobile computers built to military computer specifications known as the Mil Spec 810F standards are more expensive simply because they can withstand the punishment they have been designed to guard against. These are field tested portable computers that are famously known to operate in very hazardous conditions that include weather and atmospheric extremes. They also are designed to protect against damage from water, dust and dirt.

This means that Military Computers need to be the type of mobile computers that are manufactured to withstand virtually any conditions, even extreme heat and fire. So, rugged notebooks and rugged laptops absorb shock and also are usable in wet conditions without the risk of damage to computer components and data security when used in military operations, or everyday use.
